Welcome to WISTA Denmark

WISTA Denmark was established in 1990. WISTA Denmark is a national branch of WISTA, an umbrella organization for women at management level in the maritime industry (see www.wista.net). WISTA Denmark has the following objectives, which are in line with the overall vision and mission of WISTA:

To facilitate the exchange of contacts, information and experiences among its members
To promote and encourage education of its members
To provide a liaison with other related institutions and organisations

Internationally, a WISTA conference is held annually, normally in September/ October. The National WISTAs take turns in arranging the conferences, and it normally gathers 150-200 women from all parts of shipping and all parts of the world. Denmark hosted the conference in 2007. WISTA Denmark has a professional focus, but of course we also socialise. Most women in the shipping industry work in a relatively conservatively man's world, so it is encouraging to meet other women with a similar professional background, and with an understanding of the issues with which we are all dealing.

WISTA Denmark's members already represent a broad range of the shipping industry. However, we are keen on having new members whose background and professional profile can enhance the diversity and the networking possibilities of our members as well as contribute to strengthen WISTA Denmark.
